Our Story...

Detroit City Skateboards started as a conversation that turned into a dream—and eventually a reality. A reality where two brothers could do what they loved instead of grinding away at a random 9–5. With maxed-out credit cards, countless hours of research on running a business, and self-taught skills in Photoshop and Illustrator, Detroit City Skateboards was born. We opened our first doors in downtown Detroit on June 21, 2001.

Anyone who’s owned or worked for a small business knows the struggle. We’ve never had investors or offshore bank accounts, so when tough times hit, we rolled with the punches—and punched right back. Along the way, we moved through a few different cities, growing and adapting as we went. Today, Ferndale, Michigan is home to our brick-and-mortar store, and we’re proud to be part of such a supportive, creative, and tight-knit community. The love we get from Ferndale means everything to us, and we do our best to give that same support back.

Now, 23 years later, DCS is a premier destination for skateboarding related goods. We operate both our Ferndale location and our online store, working hard to offer the best skateboard products and customer service at the lowest prices possible. We take pride in our company, our crew, and the products we sell—and our online store provides a safe, secure way to shop our full catalog anytime.
